bad news for anyone who gives a shit

Apparently, there won't be a Kimya Dawson gig in Cleveland after all. The TBA listing on the K Records website has been replaced with "this is the first day off of the tour and we are going to cedar point to ride roller coasters!!!"

I wonder why they couldn't get a show? Isn't there one fucking venue in Cleveland that would have eagerly welcomed the prospect of a Kimya Dawson show. Or maybe Kimya waited too long to book the show and all the venues are filled up.

Anyway, that sucks. But at least I can still see Neil FUCKING Hamburger on Thursday!

I hope y'all weren't too annoyed with the shitloads of Neil Hamburger that I played on the last show.

"Why did the Maine lobster cross the road? Well... he was being polite and attending an anti-fur rally sponsored by the animal rights group that rescued him from a pot of boiling water!"

That state jokes CD isn't the new CD, though. The new CD is this documentary about a pizza place where Neil had a lot of his bookings (which was later closed for health violations). I could have gotten that CD, but I had a feeling that the state jokes CD would be better to play in advance of the show. I'll get the new one at the show, though.

Oh, and if you're a big Brian Jonestown Massacre fan, you'll be in for a shock if you see the cover the new Neil Hamburger CD. Then again, I don't know how many BJM fans also like Neil Hamburger.

That's all that I have to say for now. Now that the semester is over, I want to make a new FAQ for the site, but I'm feeling quite lazy and have a lack of energy all of a sudden. Still, I really want to put up a FAQ that's less pretentious than the self-interview I have up there now. Just simple one or two sentence statements.

why did the maine lobster cross the road?

I didn't record "Dance Party". Fuck! I really wanted people to hear it. Very good request, and everyone who grew up in the '90s needs to hear it at least once. Maybe I'll play it again next week. I did record the cover of "Milkshake", though, so you can hear that. And just so you know, I've never heard the original.

No, I didn't play every Neil Hamburger state joke. I had to leave out a bunch of ones because they were too "inappropriate". Like Wyoming. He really ended on a good note with that one. I played the beginning of that one on accident and I had to fade it out. Sorry.

Here's the show:

Part 1
Part 2

I'll just say this about the show. Nothing that I said on there is "schtick". That really is my life.

IF ANYONE KNOWS ANYTHING ABOUT THE KIMYA DAWSON SHOW THAT'S SUPPOSEDLY GOING TO HAPPEN ON THE 22ND, PLEASE LEAVE A COMMENT UNDER THIS POST! AND IF I FIND SOMETHING OUT ABOUT IT, I'LL POST THE INFO HERE!

tweeeeeeeeee!

Here's the show. Listen as my love affair with a listener starts, heightens, and then derails, all in one episdode:

Part 1
Part 2

This is the last time I'm going to post this Scruggscorp show in the blog, but I will put up a link in the sidebar. Hopefully, it won't be too long until they get me those other shows they promised me:

Ol' Jer Meets the Backmasker Part 1
Ol' Jer Meets the Backmasker Part 2

The Icicles played live and guest DJed on a show on BSR in Rhode Island last month. Go here to listen to the whole set. Of course, I've recorded the whole thing on my computer and isolated all the songs. The Icicles have a couple on their website, but I've taken the liberty of uploading the most important song for you to download. It's a cover of "Talk Dirty to Me" by Poison. You just have to hear this!

That's it for right now.

Just in case anyone is curious, this is the tracklisting for the entire BSR performance:

1. I Wanna Know
2. Lovescopes Theme Song
3. Sugar Sweet
4. Rock and Roll Girl
5. Pretty
6. Sunday Song
7. Talk Dirty to Me
