i just wanna reach the radiothon

Radiothon is next week, starting on Sunday the 6th. Please donate if you love this show and you love this station. Radiothon provides the money for most of our operating expenses and equipment, so it's essential that we do it every year and that you donate every year (or at least every year that you're not dirt poor and out of work). I hope you'll donate during my show because there is an element of a popularity contest with how much money each show raises, but if you don't want to donate during my show, it's okay as long as you actually donate to the station. You'll be able to pay by check, credit card, or coming to the WCSB Open House later this month (where I believe you'll be able to pay in cash). More details about Radiothon can be found here.

Okay, I guess enough people are listening to the archive to warrant me keeping it. (Hopefully, there are some lurkers out there who didn't post a comment, because only 7 people downloading it is kind of pathetic, though.) Thanks to those who posted comments! By the way, I pay for the hosting myself (it's actually not very expensive because I'm on the cheap plan, which I won't have to upgrade from unless this show becomes really popular), so donating to Radiothon has no effect on it. We have discussed doing what WRUW does, which is having an archive for every single show and hosting it on our webspace, but not everyone is in favor of it.

There was no listener from Finland today (or anywhere outside the U.S.--there wasn't even someone from Canada who I could accuse of being Rose Melberg). And no one from NPR called. Actually, I only got one call, and it was about the Castlevania remixes I was playing in the background. YAY! Someone noticed how awesome they were! If you want to start your own collection of Castlevania remixes, go to OverClocked Remix and VGMix.com and search for them there.

Okay, I must be off now. Here's the Halloween show:

u wanna be a grip?

Holy shit! Look at this!

I did the NPR thing last week because I was really tired and didn't feel like trying too hard. Today, I did it because I seriously want to sell out to NPR. Why won't you hire me?!

Remember Cub? (Or "Remember cub?" because it's supposed to be spelled with all lowercase.) I don't know if I told you this before, but the Mint Records website has all their music videos online, and I was finally able to download them this past week. See, the videos are in Quicktime 7 format, and it's been only recently that they've released Quicktime 7 for the PC. They also have streaming RealVideo, but it's streaming, so fuck that. Anyway, if you've never seen them, you really have to see them now. My favorites are "Flaming Red Bobsled" (it's got a crazy plotline) and "New York City" (it's just cute). Go to this page and scroll down until you find the cub videos.

And before I post the show, I have a question... Is there anyone from out of state who's actually downloading these shows? Please post a comment under this link and tell me if you are. In fact, if you're from Ohio and download these shows, I'd love to know, too. It costs money for me to do this, so please excuse me here. I need to make sure it's worth it for me to keep spending money on it. Thanks!

And now, here's the show:

Part 1
Part 2

Update: The listener from Finland e-mailed me and said he didn't hear the Swedish song. However, he did say that he wasn't offended by the idea of me playing a Swedish song. Just thought y'all might like to know.

Also, I might comment on that Pitchfork article later.

what's up batman? are you fucking the riddler?

In case you didn't hear, I once again had to sign off the station and leave because no one came to relieve me. And then, just a minute after I sign off, Holly just happens to show up. It's one of those things that almost makes you believe there's a god. And that he's an asshole with a lame sense of humor.

I was hoping that I could just end the show with "I Don't Want to Get Over You". It would have been perfect right there.

Except I fucked up because I forgot to mention the Cars Can Be Blue song. And that's too bad because it's a great song.

People actually made a couple good requests today! Yay! I usually never get requests for some reason. People hate calling me. Anyone have any idea why?

Someone requested the "The Party's Crashing Us". That isn't a breakup song, right? I read the lyrics and it just didn't seem that way. Any other day, I would have been happy for someone to request that.

And someone requested "Apple Pie Suburbia". Ryan (from the Twilight) and I were talking on Saturday night about whether or not the Twilight had any breakup songs. And he and I thought they didn't. I thought that the closest thing they had was "Zzzzzz", which sounds like a breakup song, but really, it's about their bass player who died in an accident.

Anyway, does anyone think "Apple Pie Suburbia" is a breakup song? I can't tell.

I think that's all that I have to say for now. Here's today's show:

professional wench

In case you didn't hear it on the show, next week's show is going to be the annual Sweetest Day classic. For those who don't know, Sweetest Day is basically an extra Valentine's Day in October, and it's celebrated mostly in Ohio. Apparently, it didn't start out as Valentine's Day in October, but that's what it definitely is. So, I mock it by playing nothing but break up songs and just anti-love songs in general on my show.

If you can think of any cutesy/twee break up songs/anti-love songs, please post them here. You could try posting non-twee songs, but I can't guarantee that I'll play them.

And now, here's this week's show:
