Radiothon is next week. We rely on listener support to keep the station running year after year. And we also use it as a popularity contest to see who has the most loyal listeners. I don't care about the popularity contest aspect, but if you like this show, please call in during my show next week and make a pledge. the whole show combined is 98.8 mb

Well, I told you to check back late tonight...

So, the show was about 3 hours, 45 minutes. Was it 3 hours, 45 minutes too long?

I don't know, it kind of sucked because I couldn't find my CD onto which I burned Rose Melberg's cover of "Cupid". I had the 7", but... I'm not going to go into why I don't have it. Let's just say that it's a very emo story.

And then, on the way to the station, I was running from my place to the station because Dricore (who had fortunately been doing a show all night) had signed off the station and was about to leave. While I was running, my backpack flew open and some CDs scattered onto the ground. In the pouring rain. It sucked having to play 52 pickup with my CDs on the sidewalk, but it added injury to insult to have everything get wet. :(

And then, someone called to say that Bruce Burger (host of Rare Finds) died of cancer. Double :(

(I wasn't close to him, but that's still too bad. I do have one really cool memory of him, though. At this one party, people were having a drum circle. Bruce Burger showed up and brought his accordian to play polkas and other old songs with the drum circle. It sounded really cool, actually, and I really appreciated the surrealism of that.)

So, I do I have any good news? Well... not really.

Well, maybe.

Did any of you catch the fact that there was something that I didn't do on today's show? Something that you'd think I would do considering the time of year, but I didn't do it at all? DON'T POST A COMMENT IF YOU KNOW WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT! I'm deliberately trying not to be too overt about it. But yeah. I might do that thing next week.

Oh, and I should also mention that whenever I get really into my background music, it's not some sort of schtick. It's just that those video game remixes and such are really awesome.

Anyway, here are the links to download today's show:

a couple more notes about the show

Just in case anyone did get the memo that you're supposed to come here now, I have a couple more things to say about today's show...

First, you may have wondered why I did a couple of hour long sets instead of talking more. Part of it was that I couldn't think of anything really good to say. I guess that I could have talked about the "End of Sergio" saga and about how much of the stuff that "Emo Sergio" said is stuff that I'd actually agree with. Because I agree with some of it. But I was tired and my brain wasn't at full capacity, so I couldn't think of what to say about that.

The other reason was that I actually listened to an old Boogiepop episode last night (I needed to get the theme off an old CD), and I actually did a long set on the episode, and I just liked the way it sounded. It sounded like a really good mix tape. So, I just liked the way it sounded.

So, anyone want to make me your radio station's music director? ^_^

No, really? Do you. I'm available...

Oh, and why did I decide to bring back Boogiepop instead of doing something else? Simply because Colin Clary mentions the show in a couple of his songs, one of which I played during the show today ("I'm glad you like my songs, Liz"). There's also another one called "Boogiepop Rocks", which he did as a potential theme song for the show. For those of you who don't know, Colin Clary is in the Smittens, Let's Whisper, and a bunch of other bands, as well as his own solo project. I think he's dreamy, so it's important and flattering to me that he mentioned Boogiepop in a couple of songs.

Finally, if you are actually coming here and reading this, please leave a comment below. I don't have a counter or anything, so I have no other way of finding out if people got the memo to come here. Thanks!

And if you're looking for the links to download today's show, look at the post below this one.

that song that goes awoo...

Just to clear things up, I'm not being a character or anything on this show. I'm being myself.

But maybe I'm a character regardless.

I need to update the FAQ, I think. Or delete it. You don't really need an explanation for this stuff, do you? Except for the fucked up theme at the beginning.

I forgot to play something from the new Blow album this week. Whoops!

But I played Yo La Tengo doing "Nuclear War" (sort of) in honor of North Korea. Has anyone seen that picture of Kim Jong Il that was posted on the front page of AOL last night? Kim Jong Il is getting up into the camera, pointing his finger at the viewer, and he's backed by these intimidating high-ranking military officials. North Korea kind of freaks me out, but I have to admit that Kim Jong Il looks like a badass in that picture.

Anyway, here are links for downloading:
