"The salior is teh Sux0r!"

For the record, I love the Sailor Moon theme song, but hate the show, or at least the American version of it, because they took out all the lesbianism and aimed the show at younger kids.

Did you notice anything missing from today's show?

Well, did you?

That's right, there was no Christmas music. I don't know if I want to play Christmas music now. One reason is because I want to keep religion out of my show. I'm very unhappy with religion now for getting Bush re-elected, so religion can go fuck itself. But also, I don't have any good new X-mas material that I haven't played before. If I played anything, it would all be the same old Kindercore Christmas and other stuff that I've played before.

But then again, what about Hanukkah? I could play the Smittens' Hanukkah song. But I'm still angry at religion.

In other news, if you haven't been checking all the comment links, the ShiSho cover of "Punk Rock Girl" has been posted online. Along with a review of the Dead Milkmen reunion show. Go here to download the song and see the review. Edit: I think I confused someone with this paragraph. Just in case it's not clear, I didn't write this review and have nothing to do with the production of the content of this link. Kris, one of my listeners, is responsible for the content of that link.

I still want to know why "Rollerskate" was dedicated to Molly. Why won't anyone answer that question? I CAN'T GO ON WITHOUT THE ANSWER! I HAVE SLEEPLESS NIGHTS BECAUSE I KEEP THINKING ABOUT WHETHER OR NOT THAT DEDICATION WAS A DISS OF MOLLY'S ROLLERSKATING ABILITY OR NOT!

Finally, my Men In Fur review was posted last week. You should check out this review because the Men In Fur CD is one of the most important releases of the year. It's up there with the William Shatner CD.

she's got colors to spare and i don't care...

Read the post that I did before the latest playlist. There are some very important links for music downloading fans in that post.

Okay, nowthatsmyfunday, we're all dying of curiosity. Why did you dedicate "Rollerskate" to that Molly person? I just have to know if it was some sort of taunt having to do with this Molly's lack of skating abilities, or if it's actually in praise of the Molly entity's prowess on the skates. Or is there another reason entirely?

Maybe I'll just institute a policy of people having to give me reasons for their dedications. It would humanize the dedications and not make them seem like complete in-jokes between the requester and the dedicatee.

AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!! I HAVE TO KNOW THE MEANING OF DEDICATING "ROLLERSKATE" TO MOLLY! IT'S UP THERE WITH "ROSEBUD" AND CITIZEN KANE!

In other news, we're waiting for Kris's review of the Dead Milkmen reunion show in Philly last night. If you do actually plan to post some sort of review for it, post it under here.

Finally, my review of the new Slomo Rabbit Kick EP is on Mundane Sounds. You'll probably want to buy it for the cover art alone.

I have another review that's going to be posted soon, so I'll probably post again when that comes out.

it's pizza time!

I'd like to remind everyone about the WCSB Open House. It's this Friday from 3 to 8 p.m., and also Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. It will give you the opportunity to pay for your donations and pick up your premiums. You'll also get to meet WCSB DJs (whichever ones happen to be there when you go) and eat free pizza and other refreshments.

I'm just going to be there on Friday. It'll be around 4 when I get there. Elizabeth from Cool Chick #59 will also be there on Friday, as well as Chris from "Chris and Thea". However, if you go on Sunday, Dr. Lance Underpants from 669 is supposed to be there. That's quite significant because I don't think he's been to an open house since I've been at the station.

In other news largeheartedboy has been posting some good shit lately. He's been posting these live performances from KVRX (the University of Texas at Austin's radio station). He posted performances by Sebadoh and the Magnetic Fields. There's actually a bunch of good ones on that site. Here are ones that I really recommend:

Brian Jonestown Massacre
Call and Response
Color Filter
I am the World Trade Center
Magnetic Fields
Of Montreal
Papas Fritas
Pas/Cal

There are a bunch more, too. Go here to see them all.

And use the Sebadoh link that I provided because the link on the site itself only has links to three of the songs.

That's it for now. Maybe I'll see you at the open house.

radiothon

I'm also quite unhappy that we have to have Radiothon now. I wish we could postpone it at least a week. I'm afraid that the election results are going to affect our donation totals. I think it's too late to change it, though, and we have to go through with it because it's our main source of operating revenue.

Any of you still planning to donate?

Oh, and I don't think I'm really going to do those t-shirts I was talking about. Does anyone really want to get a t-shirt with "^ ^" and "Boogiepop Does Not Smile" on it written in marker?

Information about Radiothon, and all of our WCSB logo merchandise that will be available during Radiothon can be found here.

Posting in the comments link would be very much appreciated. Seriously, I really want to know if you'll feel like donating next week. I'm scared.

Also on the next show, I'll have tickets to the Palomar/The Twilight gig at the Beachland on Wednesday the 10th. Like I said before, if you're a perverted male, you'll definitely want to see Palomar. But if you're not a perverted male, you'll just want to go because their music is so cute.

And if you're a perverted female, you'll want to see the Twilight because their singer, as I've said previously, is a sexy motherfucker.

i wonder if we can be happy in a place like this...

I bet you were expecting me to post something here on Wednesday. Sorry, I haven't had the heart to do so since then. I've been almost too depressed to do anything productive. It really feels like another September 11th, and I'm not exactly sure what to say now.

I just can't believe that the majority of Americans, as well as Ohioans, are bigoted morons. George Bush winning was bad enough, the Republicans winning all those seats in Congress was bad enough, but all the anti-gay marriage referendums (there were 11 of them, including Issue 1 in Ohio) passed. All of that together is just so fucking devastating.

Honestly, I think that November 2nd may have been the worst day in American history... so far. And it's probably going to get worse. Wait until the Supreme Court justices start dropping dead. Shit.

I'd like to post a message of hope here, but I'm just not feeling hopeful right now.

Monday, November 01, 2004

hey there, georgie boy...

Yeah, I said I'd have the playlist up by 7. I'm a fucking flip-flopper. :P

I heard that there won't be any challengers at the polls now. The law allowing challengers in Ohio was declared unconstitutional. I'm not sure if this means you won't have to carry ID tomorrow.

People actually didn't tune out when I talked politics today. Amazing! I know they didn't tune out because lots of people called for the Le Tigre tickets right after that Issue 1 rant.

Yeah, I made them sit through a political rant before I'd give them the tickets... EVIL!

No, I didn't do it to be a jerk. It just seemed like the best way to talk about the important issues facing us tomorrow and still preserve the flow of what is mainly a musical show.

I forgot to play that version of "Keep On Rocking In the Free World" by Sleater-Kinney and Pearl Jam! And I forgot to play Black Cabbage's song about the vice-president being a robot! FUCK! That Black Cabbage song might become obsolete (PLEASE LET IT BECOME OBSOLETE!) after tomorrow.

If you haven't already, you should look at the comments posted under the Hello Kitty post from a couple of days ago. Just awesome. It would rock if we could get more action like that going on here.

Again, Radiothon is next week. If you enjoy this show, please support it by calling in to pledge a donation to WCSB during the show next week. More details later.

I don't think I have anything else good to say. I have to go figure out if Hello Kitty can still be a real twee pop symbol.
